Was wäre eine Band ohne kreative Veränderung? Das dachte sich auch das Contrast Trio und richtete für das Album „Zwei“ den Fokus neu aus. Mehr denn je geht es um einen transparenten Band-Sound, der sich konsequent an der Energie und Direktheit von Rock und Pop orientiert. Ein stetiger Groove trägt Melodien, repetitive Miniaturen und subtile elektronische Effekte. Natürlich sind die spannenden Improvisationen, mit denen die Gruppe vor Jahren bekannt wurde, live weiterhin präsent. Die Platte ist aber vor allem ein Plädoyer für Kompaktheit und variierende Klangfarben. „Wir wollen bei diesem Album bewusst weg von Soli und der Präsentation einzelner Instrumente“, erklärt die Band. „Es geht uns weniger um individuelle Virtuosität als um eine gemeinsam kreierte Klangästhetik.“
Die drei Musiker haben mehr als genug Ideen, nutzen Inspirationsquellen lediglich als Sprungbretter in eigene musikalische Welten. So entwickelt das Contrast Trio eine originelle eigene Stimme im zeitgenössischen Jazz.
